Parenting Stress
Parenting Stress
When you love your kids so much, but your worst self is coming out
The job of parenthood can be both the most rewarding experience as well as the most challenging. And no amount of homework prepares us for the rollercoaster of emotions we go through once we embark on the journey.
Maybe you’re in the newborn stage of parenting and experiencing the sheer depletion that can coincide with tending to another human’s needs 100% of the time.
Possibly you are in the midst of raising a child with special needs, feeling the stress, overwhelm, and loneliness that can accompany that role.
Perhaps you’ve moved into the toddler stage and are struggling with the challenges of tiny humans and their big feelings.
Maybe you’re trying to navigate the parenting demands of multiple children at varying ages and feeling like your own needs are getting lost.
Or maybe you’ve moved into the kind of parenting stress that coincides with raising teenagers, finding yourself without the same control you once had while being faced with harder, more intense problems.
Wherever you are in the parenting journey, I’d love to offer a space just for you. To unload, unburden, release, rejuvinate, replenish, and find you again.
How Will Therapy Help My Parenting Stress?
There are a number of ways that getting started in therapy with me can help.
1. I’ve got a background in providing therapy to children with a wide range of symptoms, including depression, anxiety, behavioral problems, trauma history, and foster care and adoption. Because of my training and experience, I can help you consider different parenting strategies to target any particularly difficult issues.
2. I provide you with the space you need to release any built up emotions you’ve been holding onto. Sometimes just talking alone can make you feel better and allow you to find more patience and calm within you.
3. Although there may be a lot of stressors along the parenting journey that are outside your control, we will also work together to identify areas where you do have control to create positive change. Sometimes we find ways to reduce or eliminate the stress, and other times we will work together to find ways to best respond when eliminating the stress is not possible.
